    This sounds similar to the theories Gabor Maté has on the topic. He’s written some books on the topic.

    He sees ADHD has a trauma response from sensitive kids in a stressful home. A child can’t physically leave the stressful situation for actual fight or flight, so the mind checks out.

    I feel like at least personally, my ADHD is aggravated by other stress factors in life. I had neuro divergent friends and we were bad for each other. We would hinder each other's focus and discipline.
